The Kids are MEAN and The teachers are not good

Its a prison. Schools are prison its so boring.

I am not happy with this school at this time! I have tried to contact someone at the school since 9am. I kept getting a voicemail message. By 12:30, I had sent an email and called the school board. I FINALLY got a call back and I was informed that they had not turned the voice mail off! So you mean to tell me that no one found it odd that there were no calls received for over 4 hours?!? Really?! But these are the people who are teaching our children. I am NOT happy! Too bad I can't leave you starless!

Sunray Elementary is quite subpar to most elementary schools regarding their staff. The office staff rarely answers the phone during school hours. This is my daughter's last year and she has a teacher fresh out of college who is lacking regarding classroom assignments and preparing my child for middle school. The teacher misses a day of work at best, once a week. My daughter has never had a behavioral issue, however the teacher thought it beneficial to send my child home with a poor behavior rating of yellow due to the rest of the class misbehaving. I wrote the teacher a note (Ms. Johnson) and this was her response. "Alanna has never been a behavior problem, but the entire class was punished for getting into trouble during lunch". This is just one example of the mediocrity of the staff. I am very disappointed, as my daughter is not the smartest child in the universe, however with proper guidance from teachers and staff who have been appropriately trained in adolescent education she could be much further along. I am an involved mother, we spend a minimal of two hour each night with our studies, (even though the teacher does not provide homework or what the students are working on). This school could receive an "A" if all of the staff were retrained. "Good day sir"

I saw one of the teachers( Mrs. George ) smoking marijuana in front of a laundrymat

I have had 2 children attend 5 years each, my youngest is on her 5th year as of this review. I can honestly say that in the last 10 years the staff has been amazing. Naturally in 10 years, I have had a few issues that required immediate attention, good communication, understanding and perseverance to which the staff was able to step up to each and every time. I take an active roll in my children’s education, they’re behavioral shaping and volunteer when I can to ensure that my children excel. I know that the staff does everything they can to work with me as a parent to ensure of same. A big thank you to all of the teachers and staff for making these past 10 years, memorable. Keep up the good work and God bless.
